An Open Letter to Croatian Parliament
Croatian Parliament is seen as a key democratic institution that can ensure the greatest possible extent transparent and open communication between decision makers and citizens of this country, and adequate involvement of stakeholders in decision-making process. One of the mechanisms which achieve the stated goals is to open the parliamentary committee for external members who come from civil society, academia, media, etc. In previous work by the Croatian Parliament has nurtured a unique tradition of openness to parliamentary committees for foreign members who are generally raised the quality of debate and helped MPs in the adoption of a final political decision. We are confident that with this practice will continue in the new term of Parliament.
We send you this appeal and we express the hope that the Croatian Parliament in this setting will make an extra step and open all parliamentary committees open to external collaborators, which has not been the practice so far (eg, Committee for Internal Policy and National Security, Committee for Family, Youth and Sport).
