President Josipović endorsed the Appeal for establishing the credibility of the public function of HRT
Croatian President Mr. Ivo Josipović received today representatives of the Croatian Journalists' Association and NGOs that signed Appeal for establishing the credibility of the public function of HRT, who informed him of the requirements contained in the appeal, and whose goal is to establish good governance and program management public television.
Josipović said that he supports discussions on the functioning of HRT and exercise of public interest in HRT. Transparent and accountable financial management of public service television and programming and editorial independence are essential to fulfilling public functions of the Croatian Television, said Josipović.
The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to stimulate the production of news, drama, science, documentary, cultural programs, and programs for national minorities and all social groups that constitute a public information service.
The delegation was Zdenko Duka, president of the CJA, The Page, president of the Croatian PEN Centre, Vesna Teršelič, director of Documenta, Sanja Sarnavka, president of the Management Board of HRH Zagreb, and Elizabeta Gojan, president of the CJA at Croatian Television.
