Crime in Borovo Selo (defendant Milan Marinković)

Trial against Milan Marinković for a war crime against wounded and sick under Article 121 and for a war crime against war prisoners under Article 122 of the OKZRH.


INDICTMENT (SUMMARY)

The Osijek ŽDO issued the Indictment No. K-DO-28/11 on 10 May 2011 in which the following persons were indicted: Milan Marinković, Jovan Jakovljević, Dragan Rakanović, Milenko Mihajlović and Jovica Vučenović. The mentioned defendants were charged with maltreatment of detained and wounded Croatian policemen Zvonimir Meković, Dalibor Križanović, Boško Crčić-Kurtanjek and Ivan Komšić on 2 May 1991 in Borovo Selo; i.e. they are charged with committing a war crime against wounded and sick as referred to in Article 121 and for a war crime against war prisoners referred to in Article 122 of the OKZRH.

On 2 December 2011, the Osijek County Court in its decision adopted by the Extra-trial chamber separated the proceedings in respect of defendant Milan Marinković from the proceedings against other defendants who are unavailable to Croatian judiciary.

VERDICT

On 1 February 2012, the Osijek County Court's War Crimes Council pronounced a verdict in which defendant Milan Marinković was found guilty and sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison.
